Mika Lönnström (born 24 May 1974 in Porvoo) is a Finnish football manager. ==Career== Lönnström started his coaching career at very early age of 18 as a youth coach at FC Futura in Finland. In beginning of his coaching career, Lönnström was working as staff coach. After the UEFA A Licence (Welsh FA) qualification in 1998 he was working as a coach and director of coaching for several clubs. Lönnström holds UEFA Pro Licence. After many years as a coach and technical director of Finnish Veikkausliiga team MYPA in May 2012 he was appointed as academy director and first team assistant of professional football club Roi Et United and in May 2013 as head coach of Roi Et United.〔http://www.topspot.fi/?p=2327〕 After Lönnström's first season as a head coach in December 2013 Roi Et United managed to get promoted to Thai Division 1 League. In April 2014 he resigned from Roi Et United to take charge of Police United as the head coach in Thailand Premier League.〔http://www.topspot.fi/?p=2766〕 He became the first ever Finnish football head coach to work in any top league in Asia. In the end of June 2014 Lönnström and together with the other coaching staff decided to resign after a very successful streak at the helm of Police United. Before he took charge of Police United in start of May 2014 the team was on 17th place with 7 points from 9 matches. Under his management team received 16 points in 9 matches (including several away wins) before he resigned under controversial circumstances.〔http://www.topspot.fi/?p=2781〕 In August 2014 Lönnström took the helm of Maldives' most successful football club New Radiant SC. Mika guided New Radiant SC to long unbeaten streak that secured the team Dhivehi LeagueTitle and also (President's Cup ) in December 2014. After winning double in Maldives Mika was awarded with (Coach of the Year ) award in February 2015 at Haveeru Sports Awards. Mika and New Radiant SC qualified to the AFC Cup and Mika became first skandinavian coach to manage in this competition in February 2015. Unfortunately they lost the first AFC Cup match away against Persib Bantung and after the match Mika and the Club mutually terminated he's contract.
